I’ve done quite a few star trail photos, including some with much longer trails (more than 3 hours of exposure). For some reason though, none came out quite as colourful and exciting as this one (at least to my eyes) with only about half an hour of exposure. I especially like the blue light. The fact that each of these tiny lights can be a star hundreds of lightyears away with its own planetary system blows me away, and to think that many of these may not even exist anymore is so humbling. Now, just remember that we can only see as far as about 2000 lightyears with the naked eye, and that the diameter of the “observable” universe is estimated to be 93 billion lightyears…
The music is from the original score for the movie Sunshine by John Murphy. Listening to it gives me goosebumps, much like the thought of the immense vastness of the universe does. Or shall I say multiverse?!
