Tehran, the city that never sleeps. Taken from the Milad Tower in September 2012.

To Infinity and Beyond
I’ve done quite a few star trail photos, including some with much longer trails (more than 3 hours of exposure). For some reason though, none came out quite as colourful and exciting as this one (at least to my eyes) with only about half an hour of exposure. I especially like the blue light. The…
Dark and Bright 9: Extreme Ways
The Donauufer highway in Vienna, Austria.
Luna
The moon on a windy night in Burnaby, BC. “Memories” by Clint Mansell on Moon – Original Soundtrack
Memory Lane
A rainy night and a long road ahead. Reminded me of a poem by Tolkien. “The Road goes ever on and on Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, And I must follow, if I can, Pursuing it with weary feet, Until it joins some larger way, Where…
Dark and Bright 7: Skyline
Skyline of Vancouver as seen from Stanley Park. This is two photos stitched together, each with a 1 minute shutter time.
Frozen Moonlight
This is Lost Lagoon, dreamy, misty, frozen, and only lit by a pale moonlight. There were no lights in a 400 meter radius of that spot, so even this dark exposure needed 30 seconds and some post processing on 200 ISO and 5.6 aperture.
The music is of course none other than Beethoven’s extraordinary out-of-this-world Moonlight Sonata.
Dark and Bright 6: Melancholy
Stanley Park and downtown Vancouver on a cold cloudy Winter night. Taken from the Lions Gate Bridge. “Graphic Processing Unit” on World of Goo – Original Soundtrack
Night Walk
Granville bridge, Vancouver.
With a little bit of emotional electronic aural saturation. (what?!)
Serenity 3: Blur
Sunset at Rocky Point park in Port Moody, British Columbia. This body of water is called Burrard Inlet which stretches all the way to the Strait of Georgia, which is connected to the Pacific Ocean. I used an exposure time of 30 seconds to get this blurry water effect. “Nocturne” by Daft Punk on Tron…
Dark and Bright 5: Far Away
Looking towards south east from the observation deck at Vancouver Lookout at 147 meters elevation. Note: There are tons of slight shades of gray in this photo that may all look like black if your monitor is not calibrated. “Nightcall” by Kavinsky on Drive: Original Soundtrack
Pitch Black
Took this when the power was out. Bright vehicle headlights and an orange new moon in a sea of pitch black.
Reflection
The beautiful Alberta Legislature Building.
Dark and Bright 4: Vertigo
“There is something peculiarly dispiriting about the emptiness that wells up when, in a strange city, one dials the same telephone numbers in vain.” – by W.G. Sebald in “Vertigo”
Majestic
An HDR shot of the Ekbatan complex in Tehran, Iran. Taken from phase 1 of the complex looking north east towards the Milad Tower.
